Christmas Reflections: Supporting One Another Through the Festive Season

Message from an Elder – December 2025

Happy Christmas Everyone.

As I write this letter it seems too early to wish you all a Happy Christmas, but time seems to fly so fast these days that soon it seems like it will be Easter, another very special time of the year.

Some people find it hard to cope with the festivities at Christmas that other people take for granted.  This may be because they have lost a loved one, have their own physical or mental health problems, or may have lack of money.  Those who have loving families and no money problems may not realise how other people feel.  They may not realise how other people struggle to be happy at Christmas and may spend a day suffering, so we need to pray for all the people who will be on their own this Christmas.

At church we will be having the Christmas Tree Festival and welcoming people into our building.  We must make everyone welcome and hopefully want to come back again for a service. I have been taking the Christingle for several years and look forward to seeing the regulars every year. I sometimes wonder why they come on Christmas Eve but miss the joy of belonging to a church every Sunday. But still, I hope they go away with the joy of knowing Jesus at Christmas.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Christmas and a healthy, peaceful new year.

With Christian Love,
Jill
