Celebrating 40 years in Bitterne Precinct: Solent Fellowship Band Concert & Christian Aid Quiz

As part of our 40th anniversary year in the precinct, we’ve been delighted to host events that bring our whole community together.

Both these events have been joyful markers of our 40th year – moments of community, generosity and celebration. And with more anniversary activities running throughout the year, we look forward to welcoming many more people through our doors.

Our concert with the Solent Fellowship

Band on 24th April was an uplifting evening. The band filled the church with expressive music and fellowship, and it was wonderful to see so many people gathered to celebrate with us. Thanks go to everyone who helped organise the night, welcomed guests, and provided the delicious homemade cake during the interval. We’re thrilled to share that £800 was raised, split between the Southampton Music Trust, helping more young people access music, and the Sholing Salvation Army Community Kitchen, supporting its work of hospitality and service.

We also enjoyed a fantastic Christian Aid Quiz Night on 16th May. Many thanks to all who supported our recent quiz in aid of Christian Aid. Hazel Roberts from Peartree Green United Reformed Church was once again our quizmaster and did an excellent job. Jill and Sue provided a ploughman’s supper for 86 people and the winning team was from Holy Saviour (although they were all formerly Methodists!) The amount raised, including the donations from Sundays Christian Aid service came to nearly £1000, which was excellent. Very many thanks once again.
